MEET OUR TEAM

Janet Adderley, Artistic Director

A unique advantage for our students comes in large part from the background and present-day experience brought by our Founder, Janet Adderley, who launched the THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL in 1993. A Yale University graduate who made her Broadway debut in the hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical STARLIGHT EXPRESS, Janet brings with her a 30-year career on Broadway and in television and film. Her show business associations give our children access to industry experiences and personalities unavailable through other local programs (Oprah Winfrey, Andrea Bocelli, Jack Dylan Grazier, Kenny Loggins, Kristin Chenoweth, and Katy Perry, to name a few).

Ms. Adderley has coached young actors for television and film including Sarah Hyland, MODERN FAMILY actress; Ben Platt, DEAR EVAN HANSEN star; Alicia Morton in the lead role of ANNIE for Disney; and the Cheetah Girls for their film debut on the Disney channel. She has coached young actors on set for Netflix and Disney, including a former ADDERLEY student Dakota Lotus in his Disney debut starring as Coop in COOP AND CAMI ASK THE WORLD.

Alana Adderley, Music Director

Alana’s personal and artistic journey are a true reflection of the transformative power of THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL method.

Having been raised in a family of performing artists, her undeniable love of music, theatre, and dance were developed by age five. However, Alana was painfully shy. She did not speak in public until she was nine. Alana was the original “lavender girl,” her mom’s impetus for creating THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL. “If I were a color,” says Janet, “I’d be fire engine red. If Alana were a color, she’d be lavender. I created THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL to help my lavender daughter find her red voice.”

Alana not only found her voice, she found confidence in life. Emboldened by her experiences at ADDERLEY, Alana went from a shy, insecure nine-year-old to a successful performing artist with a career that includes working with Universal Music Group as a singer and songwriter, performing with Gwen Stefani, David Foster, Katie Perry, Josh Groban, and Luther Vandross to name a few.

Alana continues to perform; however, her true passion lies in the artistic education and emotional development of children. Transforming children’s lives through her unique and powerful example is her true calling.
